wow, nice piccehs. Yer round here in the UK western is a very small thing. So we don't have competiotions unless you travel far to one. I havn't attempt split riens again since rhia ate one of the last pair i had. (well she got it in her gob and chewed), lmao. And western bits are far toharsh for any of my horses. They can make horses dizzy and fall over ya know. It has happened to my friend twice. So lucky will have to have loads og trainin before he can have one of them in his mouth, but i usually put a normal bit on the bridle but i ride rhia in a bitless bridle so i don't need any bits for her.

all i have is a broken bit on my horse. They aren't harsh unless the rider knows what she's doing on it.

Western bits, harsh? What about snaffles? Both my horses (both western) have broken D-ring snaffles. I think people need to be a bit more open-minded, eh? Makes the world so much happier.

i'm withMorgan.....i've NEVER rode english. But i really want to. I guess the only reasons why i never have is because i only ride like the pony rides at fairs (i'm going into 7th and still do that, that's really dumb) and on vacation and such. so they only have western tack cuz it's comfy. I would really like to ride english so i can say i did it, and so i'll know what its like. But i started this horse camp in July, it was for a week, it was really fun. and next year, i'm gonna ask if i can ride english. they have a cool website, www.equinereccenter.com

Sorry to butt in but I Ride English too on all of my horses! I have only ever tried western once or twice , because I live in the UK and like Broken Spirit said , It is extremely hard to get hold of western shows . But I find english riding alot better than western , You have much more control and a sence that the horse listens to you more . So to all the people who have never tried English , make sure you try it!!! its is really good! ( oh just to bac some of the people up AKA Grace and shybootsrox and others Snaffles can be used with western bridle and not harsh on the horse lol )

yeah i like western cause i myself have better control and i have a 'bond' with my horse but in english i don't have it cause she knows what she's doing. in western me and her think like a team, in english i control her (when i used to ride)

Ok, so i don't get this anymore cause my western bridle came with a bit that is very harsh (will find piccehs of the type of bit on the net) and that is all i have seen people doing western using (unless they have a bitless bridle). So Now your saying i can go out and buy a D-ring snaffle and use that instead. Cause lucky is use to snffles and that would suit him down to the ground. BTW morgan if your trying to say that i don't know what i am doing when riding western then your wrong. Because i have had lessons and a horse never fell with me because i know what i am doing I did say it was my freidn who had the problem not me and i know perfectly well what i am doing that it why my mum spent 100's of pounds on western tack being imported from the UK for me. (i sed all that in a nice way just to let you know) It's the western curb bit that i have, looks a bit like that ^^

It's ok, It's me really thats the problem, i have no cnfidence in my riding and my old riding instructor gave me that confidence by reassuring me and stuff but my new insturctor has taken me back to the beggining. I't just come crashing down on me like a ton of bricks thats all. lol
