I've just opened a new site and so far only have 2 members, please join, also staff positions open!
As you drive up to the bright white gates, you see the sign with 'Hazelnut Stables' written in bold green and black lettering. A small smile appears on your face as they open automatically. You take your foot off the break and slowly push on the accelerator, making your jeep and the horse-box behind it move forwards.
On either side of you are fields full of emerald green grass and the sight of happy horses grazing and cantering around. They all lift their heads and look at you, in plain curiousity about the new member to the stables. You look over at them and examine how healthy look, every one of them have sleek and shiny coats, beautiful mane and tails and sparkling eyes.
You approahch the yard and a frienddly face comes and greets you, offering to show you around. You nod happily and follow her to the stables. Each stable has a filtered automatic water trough, a ring for tying up your horse outside, a hook for hanging a name tag and a turnable feed trough. The floor is covered in a matt and over that is a warm, thick bedding of straw. The owner explains to you that you must take your own feed buckets and water buckets if you do not want to use the troughs, she also explains that if your horse is allergic to straw you can use shavings. You take in all the information with a smile on your face.
Next, she shows you the electric horse-walker, explaining that it does wonders to help re-introduce lame horses or to warm them up, adding that it has 3 different speeds. It can fit 5 horses at one-time. She shows you inside one of the compartments, its spacious with aa hook to tie your horse. You smile and nod.
She takes you through the yard where you see some riders and their horses, chatting away about their horses. You approach the indoor arena, its large and wide, the woman tells you about the balcony where viewers can watch you and that there is a mirror so you can see your position. Once you have your look around you follow her towards the outdoor arena.
There is a boy and his black horse in the arena, swooping around in a canter, the boy looks about 15 and his horse roughly 16hh. They look like a good-team. Soaring over the 3ft jumps in the arena and cantering and trotting around the track. You bend down and take a handful of the flooring, its a mixture of wood-chirpings and sand, the perfect combination for an outdoor school. You nod your head, satisfied.
She takes you around to the jumping field and through to the tack room, feed room, shower bays and towards the path towards the hacking. She tells you about the cross-country courses on the way but apologises as she doesn't have time to show them to you. Finally she show's you the path towards one of the trails. Its sheltered with trees with a small dirt track that is hardly ever soggy or muddy as the trees shade it from the rain.
She shows you back to your car and asks you if you would wish to consider boarding here. You nod frantically and sign documents, finally you are ready to board. You must now go and find what dorm you are going to stay in, and so your journey begins...
