Today, in school, we were talking about poems, and our assignment was to free write 2 or 3 poems about anything. Of course, my topic was horses.
Here are a few that I've written today about some of the horses over the years that I've ridden.
Also, keep in mind this is my HOMEWORK, so they haven't been checked by anyone!!
Final
My final ride with you,
meant so much to me.
But my final word to you,
Was Never said,
the knot was too tight.
The lead was handed over,
to someone other than me.
Leaving me Alone,
Forgotten,
Heart-broken.
No more Stoney for Lindsey.
Gone But Not Forgotten
Walking up to an empty stall breaks a girl’s heart.
Alone without your horse will tear you apart.
That’s my story for a beloved Arabian mare,
Kailua Straight Up.
I knew crying all the tears I had was wrong,
But my trust hope and dreams rippled away with her.
She was my Favorite.
that energetic,
never-tiring,
happy-go-lucky spirit,
that always lives in that special place,
where she deserted me.
My Heart.
Sold
I could never quite think it.
Leaving, being sold?
I felt like screaming and creaming:
“You can’t!! He’s mine!!”
My throat wouldn’t say it.
Yesterday you were here,
but now,
gone forever,
from me.
Good Bye Forever
I might have said you were a brat,
but now I take that that back.
You were really special somehow.
You never gave me the chance for One last hug,
One last ride,
One last “I love you!”
But I never had the chance,
to tell you,
“Good bye forever, Little Bit.”
Good Bye Forever is a deication poem to a little pony that I used to ride named Little Bit who died this summer. I was oddly one of the last people to ride him, so this makes me cry!!
Sold is a poem about horses being sold, and how close you get to them. My feeling is (almost!!) always the same for every horse sold!!
