Kari gave Dancer a quick kiss on the nose for luck then went to her side and gently placed her foot in the stirrup. She gracefully hoisted herself up and sat in the saddle. She ajusted her seat and sat up straight with perfect posture. "Just like the olympics" She mumbled to herself. She then followed Nicole's directions and gave the invisible cue for Dancer to trot. She did so perfectly although it did feel a bit different from Storm's. As they reached the longer side of the arena Kari gave the cue for Dancer to extend her trot. She immediatly did so and exepted the bit at the same time. Kari smiled and gave her a pat. As they reached the shorter side she asked her to collect and she did. Kari posted rythimacly with her smooth and glassy trot. She had the perfect seat and posture to go along with it and Dancer was doing everything wonderfully to top it off. Kari kept an ear open for more directions.

Ashlee patted the white's stag's long muscled neck, encouraging him to shine. His audible whicker spread her features as her kissers parted into a beam. His radiant tassels gleamed as he flicked his grey-toned flag at the pesky buggers that dare annoy his praises. Seeing Kari start her choiced horse around the arena, gave her the signal to show off her stuff. It may feel a little different upon an equine Ashlee had never ridden, but she had this special bond with equu that just set her soul on fire, the connection was just so strong and couldn't be broken. Ashlee nudged Wish Maker slightly with her calve muscles, obtaining a picturesque walk. Together, they performed an eight foot circle, traveling the 1-beat around the circumference of an invisible circle. Meeting half of the long side of the arena, Ashlee clucked her tongue, getting Wish into a trot and immediatly changing into an extending trot. All the extentions and connections are like clock work and the saddle is the clock. To get the extention, Ashlee moved her hips from 12 to 6 at a medium rate, watching the world go by faster. Soon, the corner came into view, and, like a Dressage arena, she knew what and how to do this stunt. Without Wish dropping his shoulder, Ashlee directed the reins over to the short section of the arena, but still keeping that extention going. Right on track, Ashlee slowed the rythm of her hips and remembering the clock, moved from 12 to where 3 and 9 meet in the center, her seat. The slower pace made that smile appear once more, exclaiming in her head at how great Wish Maker was. Keeping her position (back straight, chin help high, head up, heels down, and smile on her face), she conitnued going around the arena, keeping an even distance from Kari and her equine. Kyle watched Ashlee head around the arena. All the teaching has done good in a positive way. His eyes stapled to her selected horse, his height and masculinty may causing problems over jumps. He had to be the tallest one here, yet he wasn't quite positive and didn't want to jump to conclusions; thinking that imagining his sister fall wasn't such a good idea. Risk (her owned horse), was a pretty small horse, so he truly didn't know what to expect. From the looks of things, they were perfect. He mostly admired her determination. This would be her first real competition with others. Kyle hoped for the best from Ashlee and Wish Maker, but still tried to out-shine them...all. Kyle pressed Midnight Blues into a trot, extending it on the longer sectors and shorter on the shortened sides. Midnight lifted his limbs up high as they traveled along. A smile was wuickly spread across Kyle's lips, gleaming and beaming with joy.

"Good, Kari. You fit her well, make a twenty meter circle please. Working on bending around the circle. Point your toes forward, not out."
Nicole turned to Ashlee. "Good, Ashlee. Keep your back straight, don't arch it too much. Beautiful signals there, you look excellenet. Circle at the opposite end from Kari, get your horse bending.
She turned to study Kyle. "Okay, Kyle, I want you to do a small 10 meter circle. He's a bit heavy on the forehead, collect him, engage his hind and move him forward at the same time. Your form is perfect, though."
"After you all finish the circles I asked you to make, you're going to reverese at the trot and do one lap. Then you can walk and come into the center and we'll go into some canter work."

Ashlee nodded to Nicole's commands. Her back turned into a straight board, not arching for anyone or anything. She focused on her shoulders being back, not letting her position and posture slip from composition. Pulling lightly on the reins and stopping the movement of her hips, Ashlee waited until Kari was on the opposite end of the arena so she could circle. Lowering the stride into a sitting trot to work on getting Wish Maker to bend, Ashlee pulled the inside rein straight to get him to lift his shoulder and applied pressure with her outside leg to keep his hips from drifting out, getting him to bend his head. Ashlee made the circle smaller, pushing her inside leg into Wish and got him to bend around it, while keeping her outside leg farther back to keep his hip from drifting out. Immediatly, Wish Maker stopped swinning his hindquarters. Wish Maker was definently on the bit-well, on the snaffle bit!! Kyle watched Ashlee and Wish ride the circle. He noticed Wish Maker following his nose making more clear and made him sail with a supple position. He also became more responsive. Kyle conitnued lapping, waiting for Nicole. Then, it was his turn to recieve directions from the lead instructor; the cardinal. He enjoyed the final compliment and grinned as those were spoke, discovering that he didn't make the mistake that Ashlee did. Kyle kept his collected trot going, as he was in the middle of the smaller area of the arena. Midnight gained his impulsion, as he began pushing instead of pulling. There was much enery created in his hindquarters that moved Midnight Blues forward. The level of impulsion was good as his hindquarters engaged to better allow him to bring his legs underneath his body to allow an easier forward movement, which they achieved effortlessly. He felt like he was riding down-hill, which was perfect for the collection movement. Kyle applied light leg contact, about half a pound pressure to Midnight's sides. Kyle applied light contact with the horse's mouth to bring him onto the bit and hold back his forehead, just as Nicole had asked of them and brought him together with both ends of the equine. Everything was balanced - his hindquarters and forehead. Perfection. He waited for Nicole to critque him before he went on, making sure he was doing all of the selected movements correctly for future reference.

Kari immediatly fixed her toes and focused a bit more on her form. She straightened her back to board straight but she was still lose enough to not look stiff and her hands and toes made a perfect line down. She kept her hands soft and low and her toes up and in. She even gave a small smile off. She gently pulled on the reigns getting an immediate signal from her horse. She smiled as they turned into the circle. Kari looked where she was going and applied just enough pressure on both sides of Dancer to get her to bend perfectly. 'YES!' Kari whoopied in her head. She finished the cirlcle, making sure it was exactly 20 meters. She gently guided her horse back to the rail the opposite direction and trotted one lap. Dream's trot was silkey smooth and beyond easy to work with making Kari look like a world famous horse women. She mumbled some silent words to Dream making one of her ears turn toward her. Kari continued the lap until she reached the spot where she started out. Kari gave the smallest cue for Dream to walk and she did right away. Dream was so sensitive it amazed Kari. She walked into the center and gave the cue for her horse to halt. Dream stopped and stood square, not moving a muscle.

"Very nice, all of you," she said with an approving smile. "Now, Ashlee, you first. Pick up a canter around the ring. I want you to canter one lap to the left, do a large circle at each end and then do a flying change across the diagonal. He should get it right away. When you finish with teh change, canter another lap and take him over this tiny cross rail. Kari, you'll be next, but let Ashlee go first."

Keeping her wonderful, straight position, Ashlee pulled back on the reins, stopped the motion of her hips, and whispered "whoa" as Wish Maker's auds perked and rotated to her direction. As his limbs became statues, Ashlee listened to Nicole, nodding to all her instructions as she went over them in her head. She knew how to perform each cantered stride easily. Making a kissing sound with her lips and clucking twice, Wish took off at a lope, the 3-beat gait clearly shown to be his favorite. With her heels down, back straight, head high, and smile across her features, Ashlee cantered one lap to the left with Wish, thinking of what was asked of her nextly. As they reached an end of the arena, Ashlee moved the reins to a 10° angle, completing the large circle immensly. Next up was the flying changes across the diagonal which happened to be her favorite step of all. That is, besides jumping! Ashlee kept her balance as Wish kept his, she had to make sure of that before doing the flying changes. His position was slightly flexed into the direction that they were going and straightened up immediately, not doing a counter-canter. Ashlee "set down" into the leg that became the inside leg because just signaling with her outside heel just wasn't enough. Ashlee pretended like she was bending him to her inside leg, and, like she did always with any cue, she let him know before she cued hi, that she was about to ask something of him to get him prepared by picking up on a rein. She picked up slightly on the inside rein before she asked for the change of gait, which was a trot, then a canter. She did the same on the next diagonal, but changed from canter to walk and walk to canter on the last two. Proud of Wish Maker's movements, Ashlee pat his masculine, long neck and loped another lap. Soon, they came to the cross rail that Nicole had pointed to when she was first directing her for what to do earlier. The size of the cross rail was about half a foot, which was really nothing to be worried about. There was one thing, though. Wish may try to step over it, but she wouldn't let him do that. As the couple was approximently 6 inches away from the jump, Ashlee leaned over, alerting Wish that they were, indeed, going to jump. Wish Maker accepted and arched over the jump, back legs pointed straight and his front pillars tucked into his chest. With her knees pressed and slightly out of the saddle's seat, Ashlee loosened the reins to let Wish Maker strech his boa over the jump. Ashlee pressed gently with her elbows, keeping them inside on Wish's lace. As they cleared the small jump, Ashlee cantered out Wish another lap then came back to the center, meeting Nicole to get critiqued.

Nicole watched the girl closely. "His back is locked up, get him supple and round. Gentle half halts, urge him on with your seat and leg. The change was very nice, you got it perfectly. I could see you asking, though, I don't want you to slow to a trot or anything, I don't even want to see your hands move. You need it to be invisible. A bit of inside leg, leg yielding him to teh wall, and then a tiny bit of inside rein whie supporting him with the outside. He'll get it without slowing. A flying change, by the way, means you stay at the canter the whole time. A simple is when you slow to a trot or a walk. The jump waas nice, and your form very good. Once you're ready, go ahead and picked up a canter and do a flying change across teh diagonal. That means no slowing to any other gait. Kari, you can go."
